The 29th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 was played on November 1 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah between England Cricket Team and Sri Lanka. The match's primary attraction was English wicket-keeper opener Jos Buttler's magnificent century innings. In fact, in his first 30 balls, he had only managed to score 24 runs. He then switched gears, scoring 77 runs in just 37 balls. The English team managed to score 163 runs in the allocated overs thanks to Butler's century innings. The opposition team, Sri Lanka, was bowled out for 137 runs in 19 overs while chasing the score. England won this match by a margin of 26 runs.
Along with this fine century played during the match, Jos Buttler also achieved many new achievements. In fact, with this excellent century, Jos Buttler became the first England player to score a century in all three formats of international cricket. Before Butler, no other player had done this special feat for the England cricket team.
Aside from that, he is the second England batsman to get a century in the T20 World Cup, following 32-year-old Alex Hales, who is no longer with the team. Aside from these two notable accomplishments, he also reached a significant milestone. In fact, he is the ninth batsman in the ICC T20 World Cup to achieve a century.
Before Jos Buttler, only West Indian Chris Gayle (117), Indian player Suresh Raina (101), former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene (100), former Kiwi captain Brendon McCullum (123), English batsman Alex Hales (116), Pakistani player Ahmed Shehzad (111), Bangladeshi experienced opener Tamim Iqbal (103), and Chris Gayle (100) had achieved this special achievement.
